Little River mei tais are unable to be British Standard tested because each one is customised. BS testing only applies to the exact fabric and design of the carrier that is tested, and so is not relevant to custom carriers. BS testing is not a legal requirement in the UK but I take safety very seriously and incorporate safety features in my carriers.
I use top quality fabrics, and use three layers in the body panel to ensure the baby is properly supported. Large seam allowances and edging every raw edge with an over locker ensures seams will not fail due to fraying. I use high quality Guterman thread, and sew seams with a triple stitch. Straps are inserted 3 inches into the body and secured internally with a bartack stitch (used in climbing equipment) and x box stitch. The body panel is inserted into the waist band all the way down, so the waist quilting further secures it. Two rows of triple stitched top stitching further secure the carrier.
Every mei tai has a safety certificate and each is given an individual number.
I am fully insured with public and product liability insurance.
